Situated on a mountain overlooking the Great Wall of China, the fourth Furniture House is modeled after a traditional Chinese bungalow style house with an inner courtyard. The pre-fab furniture system was employed because of the remote nature of the site. Bamboo plywood was developed to be used structurally in the furniture units, while traditional woven bamboo mats were used as interior wall finish and bamboo flooring was also used as exterior cladding.
